Welcome to Mendocino College’s Financial Aid Office Website.

The goal of the Financial Aid Office is to assist students in paying for college. We achieve this by determining a family's ability to pay for educational costs federal, state and institutional regulations to award financial aid in a fair and equitable way.

Our office begins determining financial aid eligibility by assigning all students a Cost of Attendance. The Cost of Attendance includes the following costs: tuition & fees, books & supplies, room & board, transportation and miscellaneous personal expenses.

We then determine a student’s financial need, by utilizing the  as determined by the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our office conducts the following calculation to determine a student’s financial need:

Cost of Attendance – Student Aid Index – Other Financial Assistance= Financial Need

Students are encouraged to review the , which is intended to provide an estimate of net price information (defined as estimated cost of attendance — including tuition and required fees, books and supplies, room and board (meals), and other related expenses — minus estimated grant and scholarship aid) based on what similar students paid in a previous year.

Important Information

The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) announced on February 25, 2025, the extension of our state priority deadline to April 2, 2025. Students can complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) by April 2 for consideration for Cal Grant and the Middle Class Scholarship.

The 2025-2026 FAFSA and CADAA are now available for Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026. Submit your application by the April 2, 2025 priority deadline for Cal Grant consideration if you are a recent high school graduate. Continuing Community College students have until September 2, 2025, the secondary deadline for Cal Grants consideration.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA and CA Dream Act applications are also available for students enrolled in Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025.
